[Astrology] From Books: Positive and Negative Projections
The pleasure or the discomfort of having within ourselves that unique quality that brought us that luck.
Excerpt from the book “The Horoscope in Manifestation: Psychology and Prediction” by Liz Greene.
When we are the “hook” for someone’s positive projections, we feel really good, because we are seeing ourselves through the eyes of someone who perceives us as better than we perceive ourselves. This can be very healing, especially for someone who suffers from feelings of inferiority and woundedness. If someone sees the Sun, Moon and stars in our eyes, we suddenly think, “Yes, I actually have got some lovely qualities!” Positive projections are not just things that should be got rid of. They awaken us to positive aspects of ourselves.
Negative projections can be constructive too. If we are convinced that we can do no wrong, and someone is unloading his or her negative father-complex on us, we may realise that we do indeed have some rather unpleasant qualities which are providing the “hook”. That can also be healing, because we come to know ourselves better. We usually have something that provides a hook, however small, when we attract projections from other people – especially if it always seems to be the same projection – unless the other person is completely out of touch with reality, and has been possessed by a complex. But the projector and projectee may place different value judgements on the complex. Remember George? He places a negative value on Saturn. The recipient of his projections might have strong Saturn qualities, but they may be expressed in a positive and constructive way. —Liz Greene.
